Indo-US defence ties

2008: The historical baggage of cold war sentiment between the two largest democracies in the world is coming in the way of increasing strategic and defence cooperation between the United States and India. This was the dominating thought at the plenary session on 'Security and Defence Issues' during the Conference on US-India Ties in the Asian Context organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry and The Heritage Foundation in New Delhi.
India Security Analyst and Professor at the Nanyang Technical University in Singapore C Raja Mohan said that the Indo-US nuclear deal is "a step towards removing mutual suspicions. It is like a confidence building measure to resolve a dispute that would help in speeding up cooperation in defence and strategic issues." Mr Raja Mohan said that he felt, "defence cooperation is more important than the nuclear deal."
