Ten tips
We are living in panicky times. The pandemic of Swine Flu has spread across the country. Fight against it.
- Become doc friendly:
We normally do not visit a doctor for slight cough and fever, which is rampant in this season. But these are not those days where things can be taken lightly. The initial symptoms of swine flu are high fever, cough and sore throat.
- Avoid hospitals:
Go to your family doctor first and if he/she suggests swine flu test, then only go to a health center. Avoiding hospitals is important as they are flanked by the infected people and there is possibility of you catching the infection even if you don't have it before going there.
- Mask carefully:
Use mask only when you feel ill or you are in close contact with an ill person. A healthy person in normal circumstances does not need the mask.
- Maintain distance from those sneezing:
The main route of transmitting swine flu virus seems to be droplets that are expelled by speaking or sneezing. Be careful while talking to people and avoid company of those suffering from the symptoms of the disease.
- Cover mouth and nose:
Cover your mouth and nose in case of sneezing
in order to avoid spreading any virus. If you are using tissues, make sure that they are disposed off properly.
- Clean hands are the key:
Avoid shaking hands with people. Also avoid touching your own mouth and nose. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water as many as possible times in a day.
- No to crowd:
Avoid crowded places as much as possible. Weekends can be spent watching movies at home instead of going out for shopping or
cinema.
- Airy rooms help:
Proper ventilation of living space is crucial. Keep the windows of the house open.
- Increase resistance:
Increase your body's immunity. Eat nutritious food, get adequate sleep and stay physically active.
- Avoid wild animals:
Avoid close contact with wild animals and birds. Stay away from zoos and sanctuaries.
