Go the ‘Incredible’ way
Witness the dawn of the Droid era with the release of HTC Incredible

By Ayan Sinha

The High Priest from the Temple of Advanced Cellular Devices has been challenged by a mythical beast which has risen from the ashes to claim its destiny! The battle will be epic as HTC’s Droid Incredible has landed its first step towards its solitary purpose and that is to end i-dominance. I-phone may well be trembling in its boots foreseeing the end of its autonomy.

We already are aware of the package that i-phone carries but let’s take a peek into the arsenal of the Incredible, awe at its weapons and analyse what damage they can cause. Incredible is an offspring of HTC and Google, which makes it a worthy opponent for any phone in its category. Powered by Android 2.1 OS, the Incredible possesses a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU which gives the muscle and alacrity of a stallion to the device. The secondary weapons which the Incredible holsters are 8GB of internal storage, 748MB of ROM, a microSD slot – with support up to 32GB cards, an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and autofocus and a 480 x 800 AMOLED capacitive touch-screen.

Pros:
Android 2.1 OS with 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU
8MP camera with dual LED flash
Support for up to 40GB of storage
Seamless multithreading
Great touch sensitivity

Cons:
Currently available only in US locked by Verizon in a 2 year contract costing $200
Low battery stamina
Less number of appellate available

Looks
This black warrior has subtle streams of red running around its edges which gives it a sophisticated yet sporty look. Up front it is glossy and a bright 3.7 inch screen displaying mesmerising graphics with OLED technology puts i-phone’s 3.5 inch LCD display to shame. The screen resolution is at a 480 by 800 which is almost double to what i-phone has to offer. At the first look, the back of the phone will appear as a bizarre and a barren landscape, but once your fingers are wrapped around the device, you will be astonished by the complexity of the science and dynamics have been pondered upon by HTC just to make this gadget fit snugly in your palms. A sleep/power button is on the top left hand side, going down there are volume rockers and a micro USB connector. The headphone jack is placed neatly on the right hand side. Beneath the screen there are four touch sensitive hard buttons along with an optical trackpad which replaces the obsolete trackball.

Features
The amalgamation of Android with Sense UI has elevated the touch screen experience to a whole new level. Seven home screens on which a score of preloaded widgets can be completely customised and be given a completely different look on each home screen. This shows that the warrior is also a master of disguise! Live wallpapers will interact with you just by a single touch. The eye of the ‘Incredible’ captures sharp and crystal clear images at an 8MP resolution. The camera can also shoot high resolution videos which are amazingly crisp. Battery stamina is a mere 146 hours which is half as compared to i-phone. But when endowed with seamless multi-threading, excellent touch sensitivity, 40GB of grey cells and a Gigahertz experience on a mobile device, this warrior is all set to take the prime position in mobile history. Fish out a meager $200 from your wallet and this ‘Incredible’ powerhouse is all yours!
